Abstract:

The anime Banana Fish is known for more than its action and mystery, it dives into themes of treatment towards victims, oppression regarding lower groups in society compared to the richer class, and the depths someone would go to both cover up and discover the truth. In many ways, Banana Fish can be a reflection on society; this can be further seen with the issues going on in today’s world. For this research project, I will be breaking down and analyzing parts and themes of the anime that translate over to the real world.
