Abstract:

Exploring the Impact of Reverse Mentoring: Junior Employees Influencing Senior LeadersIn many work environments the senior leaders are usually the ones who mentor junior employees. However, reverse mentoring is rising. This research aims to explore the concept of reverse mentoring, where junior employees mentor senior managers, and its impact on leadership development. This research aims to evaluate whether junior employees can offer different perspectives to senior managers. Including technology, decision making and bringing fresh ideas to the organization. As new trends and solutions appear every month, being a junior employee can help a work environment by sharing their opinions with the senior manager on any current events going on within the community. Although it may seem difficult, approaching someone older and more experienced within the work field, my group decided to use the opinions discussed by “15 members of Forbes Coaches Council” that can provide different perspectives on how a junior employee can influence a change. This could also be helpful and beneficial to the work environment because it will help keep the audience updated, along with also trying to avoid any roadblocks that may interfere while trying to catch the audience's attention, or that may appear within the work environment between any other employee. Our research suggests that there are many methods which will aid in the process of reverse mentorship in the workplace, showing that reverse mentorship is very valuable to organizations seeking new ideas. Researching this topic is important because it serves as a future guide for us who want to manage a company in the future. This is because there is the possibility that we will be Junior employees with ideas that we can share. This research will serve us greatly when we want to practice reverse mentorship in the workplace.
