Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the preparation of special education teachers in the use of discrete trial teaching within their classroom. With the increase every year in learners with Autism, it is extremely important that these learners receive the education they require and deserve. With more studies coming forward, many people believe that Discrete Trial Teaching is the best way for learners with Autism and other developmental disabilities to learn. This study intends to focus on special education teachers, and whether they feel prepared and willing to use discrete trial teaching within their classroom. It is the hope that this study will help shed light on whether special education teachers are receiving adequate training as special education continues to move towards a more applied behavior analysis (ABA) approach. This study aims to help progress special education and special education teachers so that they may best help their students learn and succeed.
