Abstract:

This research examines the impact of immigration on labor markets outcomes in the United States, with a focus on employment levels, wages, and job competition. Immigration is often discussed as a factor that increases the supply of labor, which may affect native workers differently depending on skill level and industry. This research explores how immigrant and native labor interact in the labor market using basic economic theory and existing empirical research. Both short-run and long-run effects are considered, recognizing that while immigration may place pressure on wages in certain sectors, it can also contribute to economic growth, productivity, and job creation over time. The research aims to better understand whether immigration acts as a substitute for or a complement to native labor and how these relationships influence overall labor market outcomes.
