Abstract:

AbstractIn healthcare facilities, minorities may face inferior or inconsistent treatment based on stereotypes, bias, and stigmas towards people of specific backgrounds. In general, women can face discrimination based on their gender, and due to their reproductive abilities, they tend to have more healthcare visits. This study was designed to investigate the disparities that people encounter in healthcare, if any exist. More specifically, the disparities that minorities face in America, even more precisely, African Americans. The study is desired to comprise at least 80 female participants. The participants will be asked to complete a survey through Qualtrics and answer questions about their healthcare experiences. Based on the question, they will be asked to rate their encounters with staff members in any type of healthcare facility. It is hypothesised that participants who identify as African American or black will report suffering from healthcare discrepancies in treatment or other simple experiences during visits.
