Abstract:
This project will reflect on how Management Information Systems contributes to
Amazon’s business strategy and operational efficiency, as well as how it supports and
enhances business processes. My team will also recommend specific improvements that
will increase efficiency and productivity. Data will be collected through research, company
documentation, and an interview with an Amazon area manager who is knowledgeable
about Amazon's MIS operations. We will use Porter’s Five Forces model to analyze the
industry structure and identify the company’s competitive strategy. The Five Forces model
is a framework that analyzes industry competitiveness to help business owners
understand what makes their business attractive and the potential profitability of certain
ventures. The processes will be documented using flowcharts and evaluated using
management information systems and process management concepts we discussed in
our course. Our thesis is that the suggestions we provide will improve productivity and
efficiency while decreasing costs and resources used.
