Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine how individuals perceive symmetrical versus non-symmetrical images. This study examines whether visual symmetry influences personality trait attributions, consistent with the halo effect. The research question is as follows: Does visual symmetry influence the types of personality traits attributed to images, consistent with the halo effect? Twenty randomized participants from the student population completed a between-subjects design in which they viewed four AI-generated images. Group 1 will receive two symmetrical images while Group 2 will receive two asymmetrical photos. Both groups selected three traits from seven descriptors for each image. It is hypothesized that symmetrical images will be associated with more positive personality traits.
