Abstract:

This course introduces writing students to the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in modern creative writing. As technology continues to reshape industries, understanding how to effectively use AI in the writing process is becoming an essential skill for writers across all disciplines.Through hands-on practice and in-depth exploration, students will learn to co-write with AI tools, from brainstorming and planning to editing and revising. They will discover how AI can assist in generating ideas, overcoming writer's block, and even creating compelling narratives and characters. Students will explore ethical considerations, such as how to maintain integrity and intention while using AI, and how to avoid the spread of misinformation.Throughout the semester, students will work on a long-term writing project, integrating AI into their creative process. They will also build an online platform, such as a personal website, to showcase their work and progress. The course covers the entire writing journey: from conception and drafting to revision, feedback, and ultimately, publishing.
