Abstract:

In this study, we explore the influence of the three-point revolution on NBA strategies and player development, using the data from the 2000-2023 NBA seasons, excluding the playoffs. The results from the multivariate linear regression analysis showed a positive correlation between three-point shooting accuracy and team success, showcasing the integral and significant role of three-point proficiency in modern basketball. Additionally, we also analyzed the decline of two-point shots to determine their impact on team success compared to three-point shooting. By contrasting the effectiveness of the shooting strategies, this research aimed to provide a deeper understanding of how shot selection strategy determines team performance and championship potential. The research provides practical implications of using analytical methods to craft winning strategies and to adapt tactically to the growing significance of the three-point strategy. Furthermore, this study also investigated the impact of leadership from superstar players and coaches on team dynamics and performance, such as creating game strategies, improving team performance, and contributing to team-winning success.
