Abstract:

The cybersecurity industry faces a significant skills gap, with many students unprepared for the hands-on demands of the job market. Despite the high demand for cybersecurity professionals, employers expect entry-level candidates to have prior experience, creating barriers for new graduates. Traditional academic programs often lack practical training environments, making it difficult for students to develop real-world skills. To address this issue, we developed a USB-based cybersecurity lab—a portable, pre-configured solution integrating VirtualBox, Kali Linux, and multiple operating systems. This tool allows students and educators to engage in hands-on training in ethical hacking, penetration testing, and cybersecurity tools without requiring complex installations. By providing an accessible, real-world training environment, our solution bridges the gap between academic education and industry expectations, better preparing students for cybersecurity careers.
