Abstract:

Teaching is a noble profession that is crucial in shaping future generations. However, the demands and challenges elementary school teachers face often lead to burnout, impacting not only the educators' well-being but also the quality of education they provide. Burnout is identified as a state of prolonged stress that results in physical and emotional exhaustion, detachment, and a sense of ineffectiveness and lack of achievement. Understanding elementary school teachers' perceptions regarding factors contributing to burnout is essential for developing effective strategies to support educators and improving the overall educational environment. This study aims to explore these perceptions and shed light on insights to reduce burnout in elementary school settings. Teacher burnout has become a prevalent issue in the education system, affecting the retention rates of educators and the quality of instruction. Educators may feel fatigued and de-motivated when coping with the stress of teaching and interacting with students, parents, and colleagues over a long period of time. By examining the factors contributing to burnout from the perspective of elementary school teachers, this study seeks to provide valuable insights into the root causes of burnout. Identifying these factors is the first step towards implementing targeted interventions and support systems to alleviate burnout and promote teacher well-being. Addressing teacher burnout is crucial for maintaining a positive school climate and ensuring student success. Research has shown that teacher wellbeing impacts student outcomes, including academic achievement, student motivation, and student wellbeing. By prioritizing the mental health and job satisfaction of elementary school teachers, we can create a supportive environment conducive to effective teaching and learning.
