Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate how does classical music impact a daily routine on medical professionals in New Jersey, more specifically in the cities of Newark, Union, and Elizabeth. A survey was distributed to three hospitals: “Trinitas Regional Medical Center,Williamson Street Campus”, “Saint Michael’s Medical Center” and “Union Hospital” through email and in-person interactions to collect demographic information and responses for multiple-choice and open-ended questions about classical music in their daily routine as part of the hospital. This study used a mixed-method approach that collected both qualitative and quantitative data. With a total of 32 respondents – 26 survey and 6 interviews- professionals answered that classical music helps them to have a calm environment, and it could relieve the stress of being in a silentenvironment. The results also indicate that medical professionals like medium tempo beats. Limitations and recommendations for future study would be larger sample size and a longitudinal study to understand how classical musical and or music from diffrent genres helps with daily routine
