Abstract:

"6396" is a handcrafted jewelry piece designed to preserve a significant memory. At its core is a small piece of paper containing words my partner shared with me when we first met, serving as a tangible record of our connection. Encasing this paper is a train, intricately crafted from silver and copper, which moves along the metal bracelet. The back of the bracelet bears the engraved words "Union" and "NY Penn," symbolizing the travel between these locations and the physical distance between us. Despite this separation, the train represents the enduring connection that links us. As it moves along the bracelet, it mirrors the journey of our relationship, capturing the passage of time, shared experiences, and the continuous effort to stay connected. This piece explores the intersection of memory, movement, and emotional attachment, showcasing how jewelry can serve as both an artistic expression and a deeply personal artifact. The numbers 6396 and 3285 represent the ending digits of my personal phone number and my partner’s. Each side of the train symbolizes one of us, signifying our journeys toward each other. Despite the physical distance between us, the train serves as a metaphor for our connection, illustrating the love and bond we share.
